CAMILLE WYNN

PERSONAL FITNESS COACH

Hello! I'm Camille Wynn "Cami", owner of BBC PF. I am 55 years old and a proud native New Yorker. I was born in Brooklyn and raised in Amityville. I graduated in the class of '86 from LI Lutheran Jr./Sr. High School. I currently live in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.

Ever since I was little, I wanted to run my own business. I wasn't sure what type of business; I just knew that's what I wanted to do when I grew up.

The passion for wanting my own business came from my dad, who owned a couple of check cashing stores in Brooklyn. During the summer, he would take me to work with him. What an adventure that was for me.  Already at the ripe old age of 7, I was beginning to learn firsthand how to run and operate a check cashing business.

Back then, the check cashing business was a lifeline for many neighborhoods. Watching dad, I could see how, by simply cashing a check or helping a customer pay their bills, or even helping a customers pick numbers (this is before Lotto existed), dad made his customers feel happy, proud and sometimes lucky.  To me, my dad was helping people feel good about themselves.  Compassion, honesty, trust, integrity and a sense of humor — along with hard work — are all the qualities I observed watching my dad run his business.

"Commitment + Consistency + Discipline
= A Fit Body for Life."

By the time I was in high school, I was very athletic. I played almost every sport I could, including basketball, softball, tennis, volleyball and swimming. Within track and field, I ran cross country, the 50-yard dash, and I ran anchor for the 100-yard relay. I also competed in speed walking, shot put and long jump. I was naturally quick and strong.

Though I wasn't always the best player, I was a great team player and leader. I had the ability to recognize and encourage the unique talent in each of my teammates.  Doing so, helped me and the team work better together and helped me make team captain several times.

During my time playing team sports, I learned about the importance and benefits of having and showing good sportsmanship. The ability to respect, learn and work together as a team regardless of our differences.

One day in the mid-90's while working out at Total Fitness, aka Bally's and before that (Jack LaLanne's for those of you old enough to remember!), a Personal Trainer named Billy came up to me and asked, " Have you ever considered becoming a Personal Trainer?" I replied, "No. How do you become a Personal Trainer?"

As they say, the rest is history...

"I believe that having a Fit Body for Life includes Mind, Body and Spirit."

...More than 20 years later, â€‹

The lessons and skills I learned from watching my dad run his business combined with what I learned playing sports. Are lessons and skills I apply to both my business and personal life.

Being self-employed has allowed me to do what I have always wanted to do, run my own business. Being self employed as a personal fitness coach—has allowed me to do what I love, working out to stay fit and help others feel better and happier about themselves...

..Just like dad did back in the day.
